“Everything should be as simple as possible, but not simpler.” – Einstein

The KAULUKOA training model is centered around a single focus, increasing the percentages in our favor. We accomplish this by creating an environment that develops 4 specific qualities.

  1. Fundamentals
  2. Focus and Discipline
  3. Decision Making
  4. Character

Every player in our program must learn how to pass, set, and hit a ball with a high level of consistency and accuracy.

Drills are designed to help players improve their focus and discipline. We emphasize the importance of staying present, valuing every contact, and completing one task at a time to the best of their ability.

Individual skill development and game play are designed to help players improve decision making skills so that teams can sustain rallies when they have to and score points when they should.

We value parents and players that strive to do the right thing!

CLUB DUES AND ESTIMATED TRAVEL EXPENSES

IMPORTANT NOTICE: When looking at the costs associated with club volleyball, we encourage you to compare apples to apples. KAULUKOA’s price is all inclusive! So while other clubs of a similar caliber may look less expensive, often they are not. When you compare us to a competitor, ask about the following expenses – gym fees, uniforms, local tournament entry fees, coaching stipends, USAV registration fees, equipment, and any other fee that isn’t included in the advertised price.

Budgeting is so much easier when you know exactly what your expenses are. Its one of the reasons we value transparency. If KAULUKOA wasn’t inclusive, the approximations below could be deducted from your dues.

  • Mizuno Uniform Package = $400 (2 sublimated jerseys, 1 short/tight, 1 pr. kneepads, 1 pr. socks, 1 pr. shoes, and 2 practice shirts)
  • Gym Fees = $300 – $400 depending on team
  • Local Tournament Entry Fees = $100
  • USAV Registration = $55
  • Coaching Stipends = $300 – $600

Now compare our prices! Even if we’re more expensive, we feel we’re providing one of the best values on the island!

Estimated Travel Expenses (ETE)
Travel expenses will be calculated by using a sliding scale. After years of cost averaging, we’ve found that Qualifiers typically cost around $7,500.00 per team while Junior Nationals come in around $9,500.00 per team. Since team size can vary, a sliding scale will be used to calculate the amount that will be collected for each venue. The scale is as follows:

Estimated Travel Expense

Roster Size

8

9 10 11

12

Qualifier

($7,500.00)

$ 935.00

$ 835.00 $ 750.00 $ 680.00

$ 625.00

Nationals

($9,500.00)

$ 1,185.00

$ 1,050.00 $ 950.00 $ 865.00

$ 790.00

Estimated Travel Expenses include, but are not limited to, tournament registration fees, staff per diem, gym fees (practice site), staff airfare, player and staff accommodations, player and staff rental vehicles, parking, and food.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Player airfare is not included in the ETE. Group arrangements will be made through a travel agent and each family will be responsible for submitting payment to the travel agent or paying on their own if they choose not to travel with the group.

The ETE is an estimate only. At the conclusion of each trip, we will summarize the actual cost and either issue you a credit (refund) or ask for the difference.

LATE PAYMENTS
Payments not received by their due date will assessed a $50 late fee. In addition, players with delinquent accounts will not be allowed to train or compete until payment has been received.

Note: accounts are considered delinquent if a payment for dues and/or travel has not been received by the due date.

REFUNDS
Team dues and travel deposits are non-refundable.

The parent or legal guardian will be responsible for payments when due even if the player voluntarily withdraws or is discharged by the KAULUKOA Director.

Note: the reason we make travel deposits/payments non-refundable is so that we can protect the families that do travel. Someone pulling out after they made a commitment to travel can have a large impact on the financial obligation of those that do.

Exception: An athlete that suffers a season ending injury. When applicable, the Board of Directors will meet to decide the remaining financial obligation of the athlete or the organization.

DEBT COLLECTION
In the event any action is taken, whether by court proceeding or otherwise, to collect any sum or sums which may become due under the terms of this Contract, the undersigned promises to pay in addition to any amounts owed, all costs of collection, including reasonable attorney’s fees of 25% of the unpaid balance, and other expenses incurred by KAULUKOA.

Any player with an outstanding balance on July 31 of the season that just concluded will have 45 days to bring their account current. If the account balance is not paid within that time, KAULUKOA will turn the account over to a debt collection agency and your name will be added to our “Outstanding Accounts” page on the KAULUKOA website. Any names listed will remain until the balance has been paid.

Note: The Outstanding Accounts page is a way for other clubs to identify families that have delinquent accounts with us. We feel strongly that its important to try and help protect the financial health of our organization and other organizations like us. We, juniors volleyball clubs, are all competitors by nature, but I think its fair to say that we’re all trying to have a positive impact on our youth and the community. That’s worth preserving, even if we draw criticism for the policy.

UNIFORM DEDUCTION
In an effort to build branding continuity, KAULUKOA will be using the same sublimated jerseys that we used during the 2014-2015 season. In addition to helping people (college coaches) recognize our club and athletes by having a standardized uniform, it also provides us with a chance to help families save money. If your daughter has both jerseys, the solid red and the tribal print black, they’re in good condition, and they still fit, KAULUKOA will offer you an opportunity to deduct $100 off of your dues. Declarations can be made on the Financial Contract form (see Appendix A of the Team Program Handbook).

IMPORTANT NOTICE: KAULUKOA sublimated jerseys are custom ordered through Mizuno. The jerseys have a minimum run requirement and a 6 – 8 week lead time. Anyone who chooses the deduction and then requests an order at a later time will be charged $75 per jersey and be responsible for any charges incurred for not meeting the minimum run requirement.
