UPCOMING EVENTS

Ka Ulukoa requires that all team members participate in community service. We encourage our student-athletes to be involved in any number of community based projects. Our goal is to help young athletes gain a better understanding of the world around them while giving back to a community that provides so much. Participants have until June to fulfill their requirement.

Below are suggestions for individual & team volunteer opportunities. Feel free to search out other opportunities, however we do suggest confirming with us that an activity will count towards your community service hours. In general, community service is considered volunteering at another non-profit or participation in an activity the helps others outside of our volleyball community. Any kind of compensation for such "volunteering" will be considered as payment for services rendered and therefore will NOT count as community service hours.

OUR PROJECTS

Free Clinics

We are currently seeking to host free clinics for communities that may not have access to our program. In 2009, we are seeking 4 opportunities on the island of Oahu. If you are interested in helping us identify communities, facilities, and participants, please contact Lee Lamb at lamb@kaulukoa.org.

Susannah Wesley Community Center Renovation

The Ka Ulukoa Ohana will be raising money and offering able bodies to help give Susannah Wesley's recreational facility a face lift. The facility is home to their after school program which helps strengthen youth’s resistance to gang activity, drugs, and school failure through recreational, social development, and other activities. It's also utilized for their Seniors Program which provides senior citizens with opportunities to participate in activities such as making crafts, singing, exercising, learning about health, and other fun events.

Our renovation goal: to paint the interior, replace screens, repair jalousie (louvered) windows, resurface the floor with taraflex, and replace athletic equipment.

Ka Ulukoa is currently seeking donations to help achieve our renovation goal. All donations are tax deductible.

To donate, please visit our FundRaising Page.

Susannah Wesley Community Center provides community-based prevention, intervention and treatment services to children and their families, the elderly, the poor and to immigrants and refugees on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. For more information, visit www.susannahwesley.org

Ka Ulukoa is committed to raising awareness and getting their athletes involved in the community around them. This is a great opportunity for our athletes to help give back to the community.
